How Does Dermaplaning Work?
Dermaplaning procedures can be performed on an outpatient basis in our office. After cleaning the skin, the dermaplaning will begin with a careful scraping of the surface of the face with a facial blade. We will skim the treatment area repeatedly until the needed areas have been entirely treated. The treatment time will depend upon whether a small portion or your full face is being addressed. At a consultation beforehand, Dr. Steckler will let you know what to expect during your dermaplaning treatment. After your session, you may find your face to be pink. This is normal and will begin to subside in a matter of days. It is common for some peeling to occur as the skin heals. But it's important not to pull off your skin — this could cause scarring. You should also avoid prolonged exposure to the sun because the skin will be very sensitive in the days and weeks following the procedure.
