What is a Breast Lift?
Breast lift surgery is a body contouring procedure at Mississippi Center for Plastic Surgery that reshapes the breasts by trimming away loose skin and surgically tightening the remaining tissue to create a firmer, younger look. This body reshaping surgery is performed for women who have lost breast firmness, size, and shape and who are experiencing breast drooping due to breastfeeding, weight loss, aging, or gravity. Outstanding advancements in breast lift surgery have made this procedure an incredibly popular treatment for women throughout the United States. Board-certified plastic surgeon Dr. David Steckler offers this procedure to Jackson, Madison, and Ridgeland, MS women. By integrating the most advanced methods, Dr. Steckler can decide on the appropriate technique based upon the degree of sag present as well as the desired aesthetic goal. What Happens During a Breast Lift?
Breast lift surgery takes 2 – 4 hours and is performed while you are under general anesthesia. The method used generally falls within two categories (the anchor technique and the straight-line vertical technique) based on the size, location, and nature of the incision. Once the incision is made, any loose skin and excess fat and tissue are removed. The skin is then pulled tight and your breasts are brought up and lifted for a healthy and younger appearance. If needed, the size and shape of the areola is reduced to be symmetric with the new breast. If part of your treatment plan, an implant may be inserted in the breast; however, breast implants can be done at a later date if you decide you want that later on. After your procedure, you will be fitted with a medical compression bra to assist with swelling. A thin tube will be placed near the incision site to assist with excess draining that may occur. After surgery, you can expect swelling to go away after several days. Dr. Steckler or a member of his team will provide home treatment care instructions to help your healing process. Results after your breast lift will begin to take shape after several months as your newly shaped breasts take their new position on your chest.
