What is Microneedling?
If home skin products are no longer helping you create the skin condition you want but you don't want surgical procedures, minimally invasive microneedling may help rejuvenate your skin. Board-certified plastic surgeon Dr. David Steckler is pleased to offer microneedling (also known as collagen induction therapy) at his office in Ridgeland, MS. Using the state-of-the-art Morpheus8 device, microneedling uses several fine needles to effectively and safely create micro-injuries in the skin that prompt the natural production of elastin and collagen. These two nutrients can improve the appearance and health of your complexion over time. Microneedling is known to help minimize pores, stretch marks, and scars. We encourage you to make an appointment at Mississippi Center for Plastic Surgery to learn more about microneedling and how it can help you address your skin concerns and goals.
What Can I Expect From Microneedling?
Microneedling is completed in one of our procedure rooms in about 30 – 60 minutes. While most patients experience little discomfort, a numbing cream, or a local anesthesia if preferred, can be used to help you remain comfortable. The skin being treated will be cleaned before the Morpheus8 handpiece is passed evenly over your treatment areas. Once the microneedling is performed, a topical treatment like a vitamin-infused serum can be applied so the nutrients can penetrate deep into the skin. A moisturizer selected for your skin type will be massaged in along with sun protection. Following your procedure, you might have some swelling and redness for about a day; however, this should subside quickly on its own. It can take around 1 – 2 months until you see visible improvements in the health and appearance of your skin, as it takes time for the collagen and elastin supply to increase. You should schedule around 4 – 6 maintenance sessions every 4 – 6 weeks for the best outcomes and long-lasting skin benefits.
