An IPL treatment for discoloration, pigmentation, and vascular lesions
Lumecca is the most advanced and powerful intense pulsed light (IPL) Skin Resurfacing treatment currently available for pigmented and vascular lesions. MS Center for Plastic Surgery is the only office in Mississippi offering this state-of-the-art procedure.
WHAT IS LUMECCA?
Lumecca is an IPL skin resurfacing treatment that, after just one use, has our clients noticing significant improvements in the complexion and clarity of their skin. Lumecca operates using photothermolysis, which provides a photofacial through the delivery of a comfortable light treatment.
In just 1-3 sessions Lumecca improves the appearance of:
- Age spots (red/brown pigmentations)
- Sun damage
- Vascular lesions (spider veins, port wine stains, leg telangiectasia)
- Rosacea (redness)
WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS?
Lumecca treats a wide array of skin rejuvenation concerns with a custom xenon flash lamp. This delivers 40% of total pulse energy in the 500-600 nm range (sweet spot of hemoglobin and melanin absorption), while standard IPL’s only deliver 10-15%.
Lumecca vs. Standard IPL:
- High efficiency of treating vascular and pigmented lesions due to high peak power and optimized output.
- Complete photorejuvenation in as little as 1 or 2 treatments versus 4-6 with standard IPL’s
- Reduction in clinician treatment time from large treatment spot size and high pulse repetition rate
- Improved patient comfort and safety from strong sapphire cooling tip
- Fast pulse repetition rate at all settings
WHAT AREAS CAN I TREAT?
Lumecca can be used on all areas of the body. The most common areas of treatment are zones with regular sun exposure, and as a result, this often includes the face, neck, décolletage, legs, hands, and arms.
WHAT STEPS MUST BE TAKEN BEFORE THE PROCEDURE?
Avoid direct, excessive sun exposure or tanning one month prior to treatment.
WHAT SHOULD I EXPECT DURING AND AFTER LUMECCA?
There is a bright flash during treatment that feels like a rubber band snapping the skin. Redness and a slight warming of the skin are normal after treatment but usually subside within an hour. Over the next 24-48 hours you may see a darkening of pigmented spots. In the week afterwards, these spots flake off, leading to an evening out of skin tone as a result. After treating vascular lesions you may notice the vein blanch (lose color) and disappear, or you may notice a color change in the vessel that will probably dissipate after a few days.
HOW MANY SESSIONS WILL I NEED?
Clients will likely see improvement after the first session, but multiple sessions provide even better results. Treatment regimes depend upon on the severity of skin damage, skin type, type of treatment (vascular vs sun damage), and energy settings.
HOW QUICKLY WILL I SEE RESULTS?
Sun damage and skin complexion results can be seen a few days after your first session. Your skin will continue to look younger and more brilliant over time, and most results are visible after 1-2 weeks. Multiple photofacial sessions will improve your final result. For vascular treatments such as spider or leg veins, results can be seen in up to 2 weeks.
ARE THERE ANY SIDE EFFECTS?
Most clients do not experience any side effects, and any skin reaction usually resolves within a few hours. Clients may find they are sensitive to sunlight immediately after treatment, so we recommend clients avoid direct sunlight and tanning.Schedule a consultation →
